Hyderabad: After CPI, the State unit of CPI-M has announced unconditional support to the ruling TRS party in the upcoming bypoll to Munugode Assembly seat stating that the objective was to ensure BJP’s defeat.

Sharing the details on Thursday, CPI-M State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the party leaders had welcomed Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s fight against the BJP.

There were a few meetings and different aspects were discussed, including the prospects of contesting the elections in alliance with CPI. Eventually, the party decided to support the ruling TRS party in the Munugode to defeat the BJP, he said while addressing media persons here.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had openly declared that if BJP wins Munugode by election, then TRS Government would be ousted from power in a month. This reflects BJP’s cruel intentions of usurping power in the States, said Veerabhadram.

Stressing on the need to check BJP Government, which was misusing central probe agencies for political gains, the CPM State Secretary said his party would work with the sole intention of ensuring BJP’s defeat.

The fight was likely between TRS and Congress in the upcoming elections. The BJP was only hatching plans to capture the Congress party’s space and well aware of its prospects, he observed.

Unlike the CPI, the CPM State Secretary said that their decision to support TRS was limited to Munugode bypoll.

Meanwhile, CPI National Secretary K. Narayana welcomed Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s meeting Bihar with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday and said the move would augur well for national politics.

“Like the Bihar meeting, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should hold similar meetings with Chief Ministers from non-BJP ruled States and get them on to a single platform” said Narayana.

On senior BJP leaders, including union Home Minister meeting Tollywood actors, the CPI National Secretary said the saffron party was conspiring to weaken the ruling TRS party through the actors’ stardom.

“What is the need for film actor Jr NTR to meet the union Home Minister,” he asked, adding his family has great political history.

CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said the party would strive to expose the BJP’s anti-people policies and ensure its defeat in the Munugode by-poll.
