Crime cases rise slightly in Ramagundam commissionerate in 2025
The Ramagundam police commissionerate reported a slight increase in overall crime in 2025, with more cases of missing persons and kidnapping. Police also detected a major SBI gold loan fraud, while noting a decline in major crimes due to preventive policing

Peddpalli: The overall crime rate in the Ramagundam police commissionerate limits has slightly increased in 2025. Compared to the previous year, 1,123 more cases were reported. While 20,305 cases were reported in Peddpalli and Mancherial zones in 2024, the number went up to 21,428 this year.
There was also a slight rise in missing and kidnapping cases. While 524 missing cases were registered in 2024, the number increased to 558 this year. Similarly, kidnapping cases went up to 82 from 75 last year. A major financial fraud case was reported at SBI branch-2 in Chennur of Mancherial district, involving misappropriation of cash and theft from SBI gold loan customers.
The offence led to the loss of 20.154 kg of gold from 360 genuine gold loan accounts. Besides the entire gold, Rs 12.61 crore was also recovered. Additionally, 4.5 kg of gold was involved in 42 fake gold loan accounts, where loans worth Rs 1.75 crore were obtained without pledging any gold. Cash worth Rs 1.10 crore and Rs 78.85 lakh from the strong room, and Rs 31.42 lakh from an ATM, was also misappropriated.
Further investigation revealed that fake gold loans and ATM manipulation amounted to Rs 1,75,69,600, while gold loans of about Rs 10 crore were obtained by pledging stolen gold with private finance companies. Financial analysis showed transactions of Rs 15 crore in Telangana Grameena Bank and Rs 2 crore in HDFC Bank accounts of the prime accused, which were linked to online betting.
On the other hand, two senior Maoist leaders Athram Lachanna and Chaudhary Ankubhai were surrounded by Ramagundam police on July 15. Disclosing details of the annual crime report to media persons at a press conference at the commissionerate office on Saturday, Commissioner of Police Ambar Kishore Jha said there was a notable decline in major crimes.
This was achieved due to improved preventive policing, intensified surveillance, effective intelligence gathering, increased use of technology and strong coordination among various departments.
