Hyderabad: Crime in Telangana came down by 2.33 per cent during the year 2025 though cases of dacoity, criminal breach of trust, counterfeiting, and POCSO increased.

Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy who released the Crime – 2025 data on Tuesday said a total of 2,28,695 cases were registered in 2025 as against 2,34,158 cases the previous year. “The law and order in the State in perfectly under control. Cases of rioting came down by 42.59 per cent. Statistics justifies that crime rate has gone down,” he said.

The DGP said that during the year, there was a reduction in cybercrime cases across the State and attributed it to awareness campaigns taken up across the State and the crackdown on cyber fraudsters. “A 360-degree approach has been adopted towards tackling cybercrimes,” said Shivadhar Reddy.

On drug laws enforcement, the police registered 2,542 cases and arrested 8,322 suspects, while property worth Rs 172.93 crore was seized. “Telangana Police are doing a great job in tackling drug trafficking in the country,” said the DGP.

Crimes against the women have come down in the State and the Telangana DGP attributed this to professional work of Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police. He said 34 Bharosa centres are operational State-wide and regular monitoring of court POCSO and crimes against women cases is being done to ensure punishment to the suspects.

The Telangana DGP said accident rate in the State has increased by 5.68 per cent but deaths in accidents have come down by 7.9 per cent. “In accident cases, first aid is provided to victims on the spot by local people who are trained by the police. Later, they are shifted to hospitals for follow-up treatment,” said Shivadhar Reddy.
