Crocodile rescued, released into Pakhal Lake in Warangal Rural
It is suspected that the crocodile may have been a long time resident of Voora cheruvu and would have fallen into the well as the tank dried up

Warangal Rural: A marsh crocodile (mugger) was rescued by the forest staff at Mangalavaripeta of Khanapur mandal in the district on Thursday.
According to Ramesh, Forest Range Officer (FRO), Narsampet, a farmer, Kommu Mallaiah, noticed a crocodile in his dried-open well in his paddy field near Voora Cheruvu (tank) and informed the villagers who in turn informed the the forest officials. A team of forest staff rushed to the spot and brought out the crocodile with ropes.
It is suspected that the crocodile may have been a long time resident of Voora cheruvu and would have fallen into the well as the tank dried up. Ramesh said the crocodile was about five feet long and weighed 40 kg. “Our staff have released the crocodile into Pakhal Lake nearby,” he added.
It may be recalled that a mugger was caught in a fishing net in Bomabai Kunta tank in Gudur mandal in neighbouring Mahabubabad district on March 31 and was released into Pakhal Lake.
