CWC officials release 0.6 TMC water into SRSP from Babli
According to the orders of Apex Court, the CWC officials released the water from the Babli project in the presence of the irrigation officials from Maharashtra and Telangana government
Nizamabad: The Central Water Commission (CWC) on Monday released 0.6 tmc water from the Babli project in Maharashtra, into the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) to fulfill the drinking water needs of the cattle in the district. The water was released as per the Supreme Court orders to the Maharashtra government to release 0.6 tmc water on March 1 every year to meet the drinking water needs of the cattle in the villages around the Godavari River along the SRSP.
According to the orders of Apex Court, the CWC officials released the water from the Babli project in the presence of the irrigation officials from Maharashtra and Telangana government. After releasing the water, the Babli project has 0.4 TMC water. The officials started releasing water from 11 am in the morning and closed the project gates at 3 pm where the water is likely to reach the SRSP project on Tuesday afternoon.
CWC EE Srinivasa Rao, SRSP EE Venkateshwarlu, Nanded Irrigation EE Gawane, and other officials were present.
