Hyderabad: In a victim-friendly initiative, the Cyberabad Police have started implementing home-based FIR registration in special cases.
As part of this, a burglary case reported in Dundigal police station limits was registered at the complainant’s residence on Wednesday.
According to police, a theft occurred at a villa located in Gagillapur when the house owner had gone to Vijayawada with his family for the Sankranti festival. After returning home on the night of January 20, he found the door broken open and gold and silver ornaments worth several lakhs were stolen. The victim alerted police by dialling 100.
The Dundigal Police team reached the spot, recorded the complaint at the victim’s residence and registered a case under sections of the BNS. A copy of the FIR was handed over to the complainant on the spot.
Officials said that despite the loss, the victim expressed satisfaction over the prompt response and doorstep service by the police.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh appreciated the Dundigal police team for implementing the new Standard Operating Procedure.
He said the initiative aims to reduce trauma and inconvenience to victims, especially women and children, by ensuring FIR registration at their homes, crime scenes or hospitals without requiring them to visit police stations.
