Hyderabad: A 2-km stretch of road near Cyber Towers has become a source of frustration for IT professionals due to extensive damage, causing disruptions for daily commuters.
The stretch, commonly referred to as the 100-ft road and located near Cyber Towers and several MNCs, serves as a crucial route for hundreds of employees working in nearby tech hubs. Commuters expressed anger towards GHMC officials for neglecting the road’s condition during the special road safety drive.
Over 10,000 daily commuters from Borabanda and adjoining areas use the road via Sunnam Cheruvu, Ayyappa Society, and up to the flyover during peak hours between 8 am and 10 am, leading to frustration.
Traffic delays are common on the approach to the Hi-Tech City flyover near Cyber Towers due to a damaged section of the road. Similar congestion is seen at the traffic junction leading to the flyover.
Until June, the operation of heavy water tankers by private truck operators, supplying untreated water from Sunnam Cheruvu via this road, caused major damage.
The road also generates a large amount of dust due to frequent movement of tankers and lack of maintenance.
Following the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hdraa) authorities’ removal of illegal water sumps along the shore area at Sunnam Cheruvu, all tankers were parked on the road, inconveniencing commuters and local residents. GHMC garbage trucks, along with the tankers, are also using this road to collect garbage bins from vulnerable points.
Tech professionals have voiced frustration over the damaged road leading to Cyber Towers and IT MNCs, calling for urgent repairs. The poor condition of the road has caused inconvenience for daily commuters, with many highlighting the increased risk of accidents and delays.
Commuters urge GHMC authorities to assess the road damage and take up necessary repairs to ensure smooth traffic flow.
