Danam Nagender dismisses rumours of resignation, calls them false propaganda
Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender has dismissed speculation about his resignation, calling it false propaganda. The rumours gained traction after the Speaker concluded cross-examinations in the BRS disqualification case. Nagender and a few other defected MLAs are yet to submit affidavits reaffirming loyalty to BRS.
Hyderabad: Amid speculation that Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender was planning to resign, the Congress legislator on Sunday dismissed the reports as baseless and urged his followers not to believe them.
The rumours surfaced after Speaker G Prasad Kumar concluded the cross-examination of a few BRS turncoat MLAs in the disqualification case. Speculations were rife that Nagender, one of the 10 MLAs who defected from BRS, might quit.
Of the 10 defected MLAs, eight have already submitted affidavits affirming their continued loyalty to the BRS. However, Nagender and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari had sought additional time to submit theirs.
The Speaker conducted the cross-examinations in the presence of advocates representing the petitioners from the BRS.
Following this, several social media platforms and websites carried reports suggesting that Nagender would resign as legislator. Similar speculation had earlier emerged that Nagender, along with Kadiyam Srihari, Tellam Venkat Rao and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, was considering stepping down before the Jubilee Hills bye-election notification was issued.
Denying the rumours, Nagender clarified in a statement, “It is false news. A few vested interests are spreading false propaganda about my resignation.”
