Hyderabad: TRS working president and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao, taking on the opposition on Saturday, said the Delhi parties were stooping down to cheap politics and had failed to deliver the requirements of the people of Telangana. He said while the ruling TRS was busy with governance, development and welfare programmes, the Opposition was only resorting to antics just to stay afloat. He found fault with the BJP leadership for trying to add a religious hue to the history and questioned if the BJP or Jan Sangh which are trying to milk political mileage out of September 17, had even existed when the Telangana Armed Struggle took place.
Rama Rao said though Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke at length during the BJP party meeting, he did not utter a word about the Centre allocating any project to Telangana. He stated that though the State government has been repeatedly requesting, the BJP-led Union government had not responded to provide ‘freedom fighters pensions’ to those who participated in Telangana Armed Struggle.
He said except for BJP, no other party in Telangana was scared of AIMIM. He suggested that BJP State president Bandi Sanjay, who is demanding implementation of the BC Bandhu scheme in the State, should first get funds sanctioned from the Centre for the purpose.
The TRS working president downplayed the impact of YSR Telangana Party-led by YS Sharmila and Bahujan Samajwadi Party-led by former IPS officer-turned-politician RS Praveen Kumar in the State. He questioned as to why both the political parties were only criticising the State government but did not utter a word against the BJP-led Central government.
He said both Sharmila and Praveen Kumar were brought in, only to split the TRS party’s vote share. Responding to a question, the Minister termed the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Singareni Colony as an unfortunate incident. He said the law will take its own course in the case. “I too have a daughter. We could not hold our tears upon learning about the incident,” he said, adding that Telangana will take inspiration from Maharashtra in dealing with such crimes.
