Hyderabad: Delhi Public School, Nacharam celebrated Performance and Visual Arts Week recently to develop and nurture aesthetic creativity and cultural awareness amongst the students. During this week, they were engaged in various workshops organized by the PVA (Performance and Visual Arts ) department.
During the art workshop, the students learnt to make a bird-shaped bookmark and leaf texture painting. The themes were related to our ongoing biodiversity project and it was integrated with art. The students were very enthusiastic and they were actively participating, eager to show their work.
The excitement continued in the dance workshop, where students learnt a new dance form – Cha cha cha. They practiced the basic steps and showcased their dancing skills. With the music workshop, students were exposed to learn skills like writing a song, making a tune and mashing up of songs.
The week concluded with a special assembly which was enjoyed by all. There were colourful performances presented by the students. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a classical welcome dance. Further, there was a lineup of beautiful artworks by students showcasing Madhubani art, Gond painting and Tholu Bommalata (Puppet making). The show stopper was a wonderful fusion of western and Bhangra dance forms.
