DGP Dr. Jitender speaking at a coordination meeting with Telangana and Chhattisgarh officials.
Kothagudem: DGP Dr. Jitender on Monday directed police officials working in Telangana-Chhattisgarh State border areas to curtail Maoist activities and take measures to prevent any untoward incidents from happening.
The DGP spoke at a high level coordination meeting with Telangana and Chhattisgarh officials on the movements of Maoists at Sarapaka in the district on Monday. Intelligence DGP Shivdhar Reddy and multi zone-1 IGP Chandrasekhar Reddy accompanied the DGP. Senior CRPF officers and Kothagudem SP B Rohith Raju, Mulugu SP Dr. Sabarish P, Bhupalpally SP Kiran Khare, Greyhounds SP Raghavender Reddy and trainee IPS officers attended the meeting. The officials briefed the DGP about the current situation regarding Maoists movements in the border areas. The DGP suggested Telangana officials to work in coordination with the police officials in border areas of the neighbouring States.
He said that the top leaders of the banned CPI-Maoist party were exploiting innocent tribals and keeping them away from development and welfare with outdated theories. The State and Central governments were working hard to provide education, health, transport and other facilities along with welfare schemes to the tribals living in the agency areas of Telangana. But the Maoist leaders were creating panic among the people in the agency areas and obstructing the development programmes to make their presence felt, the DGP added.
