“The negligence of a few could easily send a ship to the bottom, but if it has the whole-hearted co-operation of all on board it can be safely brought to part” – these words remind us of the great personality who played a key role in convincing few States to align with the Indian Union. In keeping with the tradition, children of grade I & II of Delhi Public School, Nacharam paid tribute to the man with extraordinary thoughts – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, every year October 31 is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which is also known as National Unity Day.
The day began with a special assembly wherein the children were shown videos and explained the unparalleled and immense contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The teachers also explained the relevance and indispensable importance of this day in the Indian constitution. Speaking at the event, principal, Sunitha Rao highlighted the importance of unity and diversity and how unity in diversity enhances the quality of teamwork. She said that Sardar Patel’s role was vital in unifying India. We, as Indians have set an example of how unity is the biggest strength and we can fight even the toughest times with the power of oneness. Headmistress, Uma Kasinadhuni expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the principal for encouraging students to work towards the unity of the country and take care of their wellbeing.
The little ones celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and passion and pledged to work hard in laying a foundation for a unified country by preserving the integrity and security of the nation. A talent showcase was also organised wherein the students expressed their views in the form of dance, speech, song, enactment and quotes. The celebration turned out to be a delightful and memorable one with little ones conveying the message of being one through posters.
