DPS Nacharam: Students take up virtual Haritha Haram drive
Principal Sunitha Rao shared the green school initiatives being adopted in school and also presented the green campus and plantation drives taken up in the past.
Hyderabad: Delhi Public School, Nacharam organised Haritha Haram programme virtually that saw students taking part in large numbers. Teachers and students took part in the green drive and pledge that ‘each one will plant one’ and conserve Mother Nature.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp which was followed by a captivating welcome dance performance. Principal Sunitha Rao shared the green school initiatives being adopted in school and also presented the green campus and plantation drives taken up in the past.
Chairman M Komariah, director Pallavi, chief operating officer- DPS Yasasvi, academic director Dr T Sudha, director operation excellence Murali Krishna, the vice principals, the headmistresses were also present on the occasion. School chairman Komariah, stirred the young minds to plant more saplings and adopt and take care of the planted saplings. He spoke on the degradation and encroachment of forests and shared his vision for green schools and urged students to do their bit in conserving the environment.
Chief Guest Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana R Sobha appreciated and applauded the efforts taken by school chairman. She said that Haritha Haram is people-driven programme. Of the 220 crore saplings planted, 159 crore are outside the forests and are planted by citizens. She said that the initiative taken by the school has to continue in future and students also to carry it forward and spread the awareness.
A green pledge was administered by Sobha to all the students, staff and management. This was followed by performances by the students. There was choral concert, a monologue performance on environment and a motivational speech.
Chief Conservator of Forests Hyderabad AJ Akbar inaugurated the 7th phase of Haritha Haram by planting a sapling at the school premises along with District Forest Officer Venkateshwarlu, principal Sunitha Rao, senior headmistress Sirisha, IT Manager Sharavan and PRO Robin Michael.
