Hyderabad: Director of KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases, Hyderabad, Dr P Raghu Ram on Wednesday delivered the distinguished lecture of International Society of Surgery (ISS), United States chapter at the 107th annual Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) on the topic ‘Disrupting Breast Healthcare in India’.
Delivering the keynote address that lasted for over 55 minutes, Dr. Raghu Ram highlighted the efforts of Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation to improve breast cancer care in India, a press release said.
Dr Raghu Ram in the lecture said that he has strived to replicate the best of British practices in the field of breast health care in India. He spoke about establishing Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases, the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and conducting a special breast cancer screening programme between 2012 and 2016 that covered 2,00,000 underprivileged women in 4,000 villages across TS and AP.
“The Foundation is working towards breaking the taboo around breast cancer and creating the much needed awareness about importance of early detection through a number of innovative initiatives, that has attracted national and international appreciation,” he added.
