Eight held in crackdown on drug rackets in Meerpet and Hayathnagar
The Special Operations Teams along with local police busted two drug rackets and seized 6 kg marijuana

Hyderabad: The Special Operations Teams (SOT) along with local police have busted two drug rackets and arrested eight persons in different locations at Meerpet and Hayathnagar on Friday.
In the first instance, the SOT along with Hayathnagar police caught seven persons on charges of smuggling marijuana from Odisha to Hyderabad and selling it to consumers.
The arrested persons are Nayini Shyam, K Chandu, B Rajesh Kumar, Ch Uday Kiran, D Raghavender, J Varun Kumar, G Mahesh, M Akhil Raj. All are residents of Hyderabad. The absconding drug peddling is and Arjun from Malkangiri in Odisha. The police seized 4.5 kg of marijuana, 6 mobile phones and 3 bikes from them.
In another case, the SOT officials along with the Meerpet police caught one person on charges of smuggling marijuana from Odisha to Hyderabad.
The arrested person B Narender Srinivas, from Gurramguda in Meerpet procured marijuana from Shiva Das, a native of Odisha at a low rate and further sold it to consumers, mostly students and youngsters at a high rate and made easy money. Around 1.5 kg of marijuana was seized.
The arrested persons along with the seized material were handed over to the local police for further investigation. The Rachakonda police are continuing their investigation into the network of suppliers and consumers involved in the illicit drug trade.
Efforts are underway to identify and nab other individuals linked to drug peddling. The police are also working to gather more intelligence on the suppliers in Odisha and their connections to drug peddling operations in Hyderabad.
