Face authentication coming to Anganwadi Centers for transparent services in Karimnagar
To monitor the working hours of Anganwadi centres, track children's attendance, house visits, and the distribution of take-home rations (THR), eggs, and Balamrutham, the Centre launched the Poshan Tracker app in 2020. Now, the government plans to enhance the app by adding a face authentication feature to further streamline the system. In addition to updating the app, beneficiaries' details, including their photo, Aadhar number, and phone number, will need to be uploaded.

Karimnagar: In order to provide more transparent services in Anganwadi centres, a face authentication feature is going to be added to the Poshan Tracker mobile application. All the detail of beneficiaries will be uploaded in the app to track the services being provided to beneficiaries as well as anganwadi centres.
In order to monitor the working timings of Anganwadi centres, attendance of children, house visits, distribution of take home ration (THR), eggs and Balamrutham, the Centre had introduced the Poshan Tracker application in 2020. Now, the government is going to add the face authentication feature to the existing mobile application to streamline the system further. Besides updating the Poshan Tracker application, the details of beneficiaries including photo, Aadhar number and phone number have to be uploaded in the app.
The process will be completed with the entering of a one time password (OTP) to be sent to the beneficiary’s phone numbers. The details of all beneficiaries who have registered names with a particular centre have to be uploaded in the application.
The process of face authentication has started in some anganwadi centres in the erstwhile Karimnagar district. In this regard, supervisors were already given training. Poshan Abhiyan representatives are giving training to Anganwadi centre operators. On the other hand, the government is also planning to change the internet services provider for the Anganwadi centres. In the wake of complaints about poor internet services in rural areas, the government has taken the decision and is searching for the best service provider. Besides SIM cards, new mobile phones with 64 GB capacity will also be given to Anganwadi centre organizers, officials said.
