Hyderabad: Forum for Good Governance (FGG) appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to order a vigilance inquiry into all the temporary promotions and postings given to Tahsildars during last couple of months. It also wanted all the promotions and postings to be kept in abeyance till the inquiry was completed.
While promoting Tahsildars to the post of RDO, a selection Committee has to be constituted. After thorough verification of their records, promotions are offered. In the recent promotions the set procedure was not followed and persons facing serious vigilance cases and ACB cases were promoted, charged FGG president M Padmanabha Reddy in an appeal to the Chief Minister on Thursday.
On May 27, this year, 12 Tahsildars were promoted temporarily as RDOs without following any set rules. Some of these Tahsildars facing serious disciplinary charges got promotion through Court order which stated “The Respondents (Principal Secretary Revenue) consider the case of the petitioner for promotion to the post of Deputy Collector, he said.
The argument here was that the Court order was not a speaking direction to Principal Secretary to promote the Tahsildars. The Court had only said to consider. There are many such cases where misinterpreting the Court order and promotions were offered, he pointed out.
ACB, Telangana was toiling hard to control corruption by booking cases against corrupt officials. It is reported that during last eight months ACB has registered nearly 200 cases. But, there was no quick follow up action. This abnormal delay in bring the ACB cases to its logical conclusion was encouraging corruption in administration, the FGG president added.
