Food safety committees must in residential schools: Ponnam Prabhakar
There should not be any lethargy in serving quality food to the students. If any officials are found irresponsible in their duties stern action would be initiated against them, the BC Welfare Minister warned.
Hyderabad: With suspected cases of food poisoning occurring regularly in government-run residential schools, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed the officials to constitute food safety committees in the schools at the earliest.
Along with teachers and principals, students should also be made members of the food safety committees. The food should be served to the students only after the committee members check the quality and taste, he instructed the BC Welfare department officials during a conference on Friday.
There should not be any lethargy in serving quality food to the students. If any officials are found irresponsible in their duties stern action would be initiated against them, he warned.
All the norms in preparing the food as per the specified menu should be duly followed. Priority should be accorded to ensuring sanitation in the school premises, especially in kitchens. Regular health checkups should be conducted for the students, the Minister said.
“If any untoward incidents occur in residential schools, the concerned officials will be held responsible,” Ponnam Prabhakar added.
