Karimnagar: Food safety officials on Wednesday raided several sweet shops in Karimnagar town and found serious violations in hygiene and food preparation practices.
Assistant Food Controller Khaleef, Gazetted Food Inspector Rohit Reddy, and Food Safety Officer Ankith Reddy inspected Anil Sweets and Bakery, Anand Sweets, and Maharaja Sweets.
Officials reported unhygienic kitchens, noting that flies and mosquitoes were found in milk used for preparing sweets. They also observed poor storage practices and excessive use of artificial food colours.
During the raids, 20 litres of milk were destroyed at Anand Sweets, while 10 kg of badusha and 3 kg of mixture were seized and destroyed at Maharaja Sweets.
