Adilabad: Former Minister Jogu Ramanna vowed to relentlessly fight for the revival of the sick unit of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI)-Adilabad and demanded that the Centre give clarity with regard to the revival.

He extended his solidarity to the CCI workers, who launched a relay hunger strike, demanding the revival of the cement manufacturing unit here on Wednesday.

Ramanna recalled that the BRS tried to realise a long-pending dream of the people of the district by bringing the issue to the notice of the Centre several times in the past. However, the Centre did not respond, he said.

The former Minister alleged that both Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh and local MLA Payal Shankar of the BJP were spreading misinformation over the reopening of the unit. He flayed the BJP for failing to show sincerity in keeping its word. He faulted it for auctioning the properties even as the manufacturer had all resources to be restarted.

Ramanna wanted the local MP and MLA to lay special focus on the unit and stop the auction of the unit assets. He said he was ready to join the two public representatives on behalf of a joint action committee to call on Union Ministers to achieve the revival of the unit if required.

CCI Sadhana Committee convenor Darshanala Mallesh, co-convenor Vijjagiri Narayana, members Venkata Narayana, Lanka Raghavulu, Arun Kumar, Mudupu Prabhakar Reddy, Premala and many others were present.
