Forum for Good Governance finds fault with Minister’s involvement in tender process
In a letter to Chief Minister, FGG Secretary Soma Srinivas Reddy said it had come to light through a media report that using his position, a Minister had directly intervened in the tender process to manipulate the outcome.
Hyderabad: The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) found fault with the State government for lack of transparency in administration and intervention of a Minister in tender processes to manipulate the outcome.
In a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, FGG Secretary Soma Srinivas Reddy said it had come to light through a media report that using his position, a Minister had directly intervened in the tender process to manipulate the outcome.
This was a clear violation of the constitutional oath that every Minister takes to uphold the sovereignty and integrity and to discharge their duties faithfully and impartially. Such actions were unbecoming of any Minister who was sworn to uphold the constitution, he said.
Payments were being made selectively, based on the intervention of certain Ministers, according to a recent news article.
This lack of transparency was unfortunate. Governments that operate with public funds must be honest, transparent, and accountable, if not, the public would lose faith in the administration, the FGG Secretary said.
“You are well aware that when leaders commit wrongdoings, the law will not remain silent. In a democracy, it is essential to think ahead and reform governance in ways that bring long-term benefits to the people” Srinivas Reddy added.
