Warangal: Gundala police have arrested a four-member gang of bike lifters and ten receivers and recovered 19 two-wheelers worth Rs 11.50 lakh from them on Friday.
The arrested gang members were identified as Bunga Mahesh (22) of Kanchan Palli village in Raghunathpalli mandal in Jangaon district, Samanu Shivaji (29) of Raghunathpalli village, Lakkamalla Ravi (34) of Govindaraopet village in Mulugu district, and Amritam Rajesh (21) of Kanchanapally village of Raghunathpalli mandal.
Disclosing the details at a press conference here on Saturday, Warangal Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi said that Mahesh and Shivaji, who were working with the catering service at the functions, became friends with the other two members, and committed the offences to earn easy money.
“A special police team led by Station Ghanpur ASP Abhinav Gaikwad nabbed the gang during a vehicle search by Gundala SI Tirupati near Sai Baba temple at Gundala mandal headquarters on Friday evening,” Joshi said and that the police also arrested the persons who purchased the stolen vehicles.
