Fuel shortage in Telangana is not real: Telangana Bharat Petroleum Dealers body
The Telangana Bharat Petroleum Dealers Association (TBPDA) has clarified that there is no disruption in fuel supply across the state, dismissing rumours of a shortage. The association warned against storing fuel in plastic cans due to fire hazards.
Mancherial: The Telangana Bharat Petroleum Dealers Association (TBPDA) clarified that people should not believe false news about fuel shortage in Telangana. It said that people were unnecessarily queuing at fuel filling stations due to fake propaganda.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the association’s state general secretary Surabhi Sharath Kumar said that the supply was not disrupted in Telangana. People were engaging in panic buying following the West Asia conflict.
Oil companies were relentlessly trying to ensure sufficient supply of both petrol and diesel across the state, he stated. He requested the customers not to trust fake news and rumours spread on social media platforms.
The association further said that certain companies stopped credit facilities to traders, while customers were buying more fuel than required resulting in inconvenience to motorists and a crisis-like situation. It stated that efforts were being made to overcome the situation and to prevent artificial shortage by coordinating with dealers of BPCL, HPCL and IOCL. Storing petrol and diesel in plastic cans is illegal and can cause fire accidents, he cautioned.
In the meantime, the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association president M Amarender Reddy clarified that the shortage of fuel was not real and urged people not to trust the rumours circulated on social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.
