Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar, on Sunday reiterated that there were adequate reserves of fuel that were sufficient for 60 days.
“There is sufficient stock and no scarcity of fuel. People need not panic or believe in rumours,” he said and in a statement added that people were flocking to fuel stations due to panic. “There are 250 fuel stations in the Hyderabad city police jurisdiction and adequate bandobast arrangements are made at the fuel stations to prevent any trouble,” he said.
There were around 320 oil tankers supplying fuel to the city from the oil depots. “It is taking some time for the oil tankers to refill the vehicles at oil depots and supply them to the fuel stations. So the fuel stations’ management is putting the ‘no stock’ board, it is not because of fuel shortage,” Sajjanar explained.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad District Collector, Harichandana Dasara, said a revenue official, a civil supplies officer and a police official were present at each fuel station to monitor the situation and act accordingly.
The police, revenue, civil supplies and other department officials had conducted a review meeting to understand the issue and take steps to provide relief to the citizens.
