Hyderabad: As Jubilee Hills heads for bye-election on November 11, all the statues of political leaders in the constituency have been draped. The statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Imax Rotary has been veiled as has the statue of former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao at Motinagar.
Across the assembly constituency, the statues are being covered as part of the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the coming bypoll. The authorities have put a drape on the statues of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao at Imax Rotary and the statue of former Minister Janardhan Reddy at Borabanda.
After the MCC was enforced, the GHMC teams covered the statues of political figures installed at public places like traffic junctions, parks, residential colonies, community halls, and slums across the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency.
The enforcement teams rolled into action on October 6 soon after the Election Commission announced the bye-election schedule. This measure has been taken under the MCC, to prevent any party from using public property to gain an unfair advantage.
