Govt of Telangana, UK strengthen collaboration in education, arts and innovation
The British Council also entered into a MoU with Research Innovation Centre of Hyderabad (RICH) to facilitate research and innovation in aerospace, defence, life sciences and pharma, food and agriculture.

Hyderabad: Government of Telangana and British Council inked a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand initiatives towards internationalisation of higher education, increased mobility and partnership between Telangana and the UK .
The British Council also entered into a MoU with Research Innovation Centre of Hyderabad (RICH) to facilitate research and innovation in aerospace, defence, life sciences and pharma, food and agriculture, and sustainability Industries and IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, RICH Director General Ajit Rangnekar, British Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Andrew Fleming and British Council South India Director Janaka Pushpanathan were present at the MoU signing.
The MoU underlines the Telangana State’s trust in the UK as a chosen partner to explore collaborative opportunities. The MoU will focus on educational projects such as revision of the curriculum for arts and commerce institutions with intent to enhance employability rates of the youth and ensuring that the curriculum is aligned to industry expectations.
“Telangana is India’s youngest State but also the most advanced and progressive one. Internationalisation is in Telangana’s DNA. Our vision is to be full of opportunities for students, professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, scholars and researchers. The positive impact of British Council’s work in the State is visible and we are hopeful that the programmes with UK and Wales continue to help our youth get international exposure,” said Jayesh Ranjan.
“The new three-year MoU is a testament to the deepening of partnership between the progressive State of Telangana, and the UK and its devolved governments. We are excited about the road ahead and acknowledge the trust that has been placed in the British Council as the facilitator of the Telangana-UK programmes,” said Janaka Pushpanathan.
British Council will also be the key knowledge partner of RICH and the two will focus on joint innovation, entrepreneurship initiatives, sharing of best practices and development of bespoke courses to develop relevant skills among the youth of Telangana. “In collaboration with the British Council and the Government of Telangana, we want to make Telangana and Hyderabad the preferred location for lifesciences, sustainability, and personalised medicine. Our focus will now be to help create centers of excellence. We are working with universities in the UK to foster collaborations that are mutually beneficial,” said Ajit Rangnekar.
