Mahabubabad: Senior physical science teacher and educational researcher, Dr V Gurunadha Rao has been selected to take part in two-day national level workshop of teachers and heads of schools on ‘National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) guiding document’, as a part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The workshop will be on January 4 and 5 by the National Council for Education National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi. Rao is the only teacher who got special invitation from Telangana State for this workshop, said District Educational Officer (DEO), Mahabubabad, Mohammed Abdul Hai, in a press note.
“The workshop will provide a platform for discussion, collaboration, and exchange of ideas between teachers, school heads, and NCTE with a specific focus on enhancing teacher capability to improve students’ learning outcomes in line with NEP 2020. The suggestions/comments/ideas collected from the ground level functionaries will be used in improving the draft on NPST,” he added.
Dr Gurunadha Rao said the NPST is basically trying to build the standards in teaching as per the changes seen in the system of education that is from rote learning to the interactive teaching learning system so that teacher’s competence and skills should be enhanced in order to sustain the respect in teaching profession. “To ensure that all teachers at all levels of school education are passionate, motivated, highly qualified, professionally trained, well equipped and well-supported for growth in their careers,” he added.
Rao, who is currently working at the Zilla Parishad Secondary School (ZPSS) in Kambalapally in Mahabubabad, was appreciated by the District Educational Officials, and others. He has so far attended more than 90 national and international conferences organised by reputed institutions and universities and presented research articles. He also published more than 50 articles in reputed national and international journals.
