Adilabad: In an effort to bridge the gap in learning, teachers and headmaster of state-run Zilla Parishad Secondary School (ZPSS), Indervelli, jointly launched a YouTube channel to ensure that students never miss online classes due to the lockdown and any other hurdle.

They uploaded over 100 short videos of lessons pertaining to various subjects taught to the students from Class VI to X, enabling the pupils of not only this mandal, but neighbouring mandals in accessing online education anytime and from anywhere.

Apart from all other sectors, Covid-19 pandemic has deepened the digital education divide with bringing the offline learning to a standstill. To curtail the spread of the acute respiratory disease, the government suspended classes at government and private schools. Students are now forced to attend online classes using smartphones and watch lessons on Television. Some of them are struggling to access education, following the poor coverage of telecom providers.

Considering all these challenges for the students, the teachers and headmaster of the school Gopal Singh has come up with an innovative idea. They created a channel titled ‘Headmaster ZPSS Indervelli’ on the popular video sharing platform for the convenience of their pupils. They are regularly posting videos of lessons relating to science, mathematics, social and languages with the help of their mobile phones onto the platform.

“The objective of starting the channel was to provide ease for students to attend classes from anywhere and anytime. A total of 50 percent of teachers out of the total size of 42 are discharging duties. They are creating the videos using their mobile phones. As many as 116 videos were uploaded on the channel so far,” Gopal told ‘Telangana Today.’

The effort of the teachers has eased problems of the students in attending the classes. Evidently, the videos have come in handy for 1,063 students of the institution and their counterparts belonging to Utnoor, Gadiguda, Echoda, Gudihathnoor and Adilabad mandals, helping the children effortlessly learn the subjects and continue their studies without any hiccups.

Creating awareness on YouTube channel

On the other hand, the teachers and the headmaster are relentlessly creating awareness over the facility among the students by visiting door-to-door. Admirably, they are reaching out to remote villages on foot and sometimes are wading through streams to spread the word. They are winning plaudits from many including the parents for going an extra mile for the students. The link of YouTube link of the channel is:
