School assistant from Warangal wins ICT national award
Having 22 years of teaching experience, the award winner Dr. Kola Ravi Kumar worked as the script writer and presenter for digital lessons telecasted from TSAT Vidya Channel
Warangal Urban: A school assistant (SA) working with Zilla Parishad Secondary School (ZPSS), Shaipet village of Dharmasagar mandal in the district, Dr Kola Ravi Kumar, has won the national ICT award. He will receive the award from President Ramnath Kovind. He is one of the two teachers from Telangana and among the 25 from across the country who were selected for this national award. The date of award presentation is due for declaration.
The centrally sponsored programme of Samagra Shiksha has a component of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools and Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) introduced a national award for teachers for use of ICT in education. The award is to felicitate those teachers who have enhanced student learning by effectively and innovatively integrating technology supported learning into the school curriculum and subject teaching and thereby promoting enquiry based cooperative collaborative learning.
“During the 2020, they invited applications for the teachers who are effectively using ICT in their teaching learning process. This is the first time they accepted self-nominations in the online mode,” Dr Kola Ravi Kumar said.
Having 22 years of teaching experience, Ravi Kumar worked as the script writer and presenter for digital lessons telecasted from TSAT Vidya Channel. He also worked as State Resource Person for the Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx) programme, an initiative of TISS, Mumbai, and MIT USA, implemented in 300 schools of Telangana State.
“Our school students completed the modules in English, Maths and Science. Our school ZPHS Shaipet is in the second position of implementing CLIx Platform out of the four states (Telangana, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh),” Dr Ravi Kumar said, adding that he is also a content developer and mentor in the first online course, English Language Enrichment Course (ELEC) to the teachers of English Medium Primary Schools of Telangana state, conducted by SCERT Telangana in association with Azim Premji University Bengaluru.
He has trained the teachers of English of Telangana State during the COVID- 19 pandemic period besides attending more than 50 webinars as presenter to the teachers, teacher edcators, D.Ed ,B.Ed Student teachers and Heads of Institutions. He has designed syllabus for the online resources useful for teaching in virtual mode. Ravi Kumar, who is well versed in using more than 50 online/web tools, was presenter for the webinar from CIET, New Delhi, and he participated and presented papers in three international and two national conferences. Ravi Kumar did his M.A (English), M.Sc (Zoology), B.Ed., and Ph.D (Zoology) and is working as the School Assistant (English).
