Warangal Urban: The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is setting up a petrol station on its office premises in the city to ensure quality fuel for corporation vehicles and also reduce fuel bill.
The construction of the petrol station will be completed in about 10 to 15 days, according to the officials. The civic body, which owns 265 vehicles including official vehicles and garbage trucks, has entered into an agreement with the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) to set up the petrol bunk with a total capacity of 73,000 litres to meet the fuel demand of the corporation owned vehicles, and the vehicles of the employees working with the civic body.
GWMC Additional Commissioner Ch Nageshwar, who is monitoring the progress in the works of the petrol station, said that tank of 35,000 litres was already installed at the petrol station, while the tanks with a capacity of 22,000 and 16,000 litres respectively would be set up soon. It is said that the GWMC had been paying nearly Rs 50 lakh towards petrol/diesel bill every month. They were also motivitated by the successful management of petrol bunks set up by government and semi-government organisations like Warangal Central Prison, Kalpalatha Super Bazar and TSRTC. Fuel consumers in the city are trust the government-run petrol stations for quality fuel.
