Adilabad: Superintendent of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy said he was happy to be posted as Superintendent of Police of the district since he had worked here for 18 years in different positions.

Speaking to the media after assuming charge on Monday, Uday Kumar went down memory lane and recalled his association with the district. “I worked as probationary Sub-Inspector of Utnoor and Sub-Inspector of Kaddam mandal after joining the police department in 1991. I am familiar with the interior parts and the forests of the district,” he said.


The non-cadre IPS officer assured that he will be accessible to the people and that he would visit remote areas of the district soon. He advised the youngsters to set high goals and achieve them through hard work. He said that staff of the department would always receive complaints and justice would be ensured to victims.

The newly posted head of the district police administration, further said that he would lay special focus on curbing menaces such as gutkha, matka, illegal transportation of prohibited ganja. He stated that he would tour every police station and control the crime rate. He cautioned that none would be spared if found involved in an offence.

Uday Kumar was welcomed by Additional SPs Srinivas Rao, C Samay John Rao, Utnoor ASP Harshavardhan, DSPs Vennkateshwar Rao, V Suresh, Inspectors Krishnamurthi, P Srinivas, K Purushottam Chary, G Venu, B Sripal, Vamshi Krishna, Venkat, Sub-Inspector Anwar Ul Haq DCRB Inspector J Gunavanth Rao and Administrative Officer of SP office Mohammad Yousuf.

In the meantime, IPS officer K Suresh Kumar took the charge of SP of Kumram Bheem Asifabad. He said that he would take steps to check various crimes, besides preventing activities of banned Maoists in the district, once a stronghold of the ultras.
