Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that the citizens have been suffering from various health issues due to the air, water and soil pollution caused by the effluents released. Despite continuous protests by villagers, the former minister said, the government failed to initiate any action against the erring industry.

Rao demanded that the district in-charge minister Konda Surekha visit the village directly to assess the situation and direct the officials to initiate action against the pharmaceutical company.

The former minister said that Collector P Pravinya, Pollution Control Board officials and other concerned departments have failed to take any action against the pharma company so far. The villagers also took out a rally on the highway with cattle.
