Sangareddy: Holding Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy responsible for the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Telangana government’s petition on the Polavaram project, water sharing and Banakacherla, former Minister T Harish Rao accused Revanth of helping his political guru and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu complete the projects in the neighbouring State.
Speaking to reporters in Sangareddy on Monday, Harish Rao said the Congress government had failed to learn from its mistakes even though a writ petition filed by it had been rejected earlier. Rao made the comments after the Supreme Court rejected Telangana’s petition, citing defects.
“How did the Congress government file a defective petition and what are the Advocate General and other government lawyers doing?” he questioned. Rao further said it would not have been possible to file such a petition without directions from the Chief Minister. He said the Telangana government had filed the writ petition on December 16, 2025, after Andhra Pradesh completed the tender process for the Godavari-Nallamalla Sagar project on December 11.
Even though the writ petition was disposed of by the Apex Court, he said the government had failed to file a strong petition even after taking seven months. Rao further accused Revanth Reddy of appointing Adityanath, a former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, as an advisor to the Telangana government at the behest of Chandrababu Naidu. He demanded that Revanth make public the issues discussed during his meeting with Naidu and Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Rao also demanded that the government make public the conclusions of the irrigation officials’ meeting held in New Delhi on the same issue.
