Harish Rao demands release of pending DAs for government employees
He criticized the government for failing to fulfill these promises, despite repeated assurances during the Parliament elections and meetings with teacher and employee unions
Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday demanded immediate release of five pending Dearness Allowances (DAs) for government employees. He urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to discuss this issue in the upcoming cabinet meeting on October 23 and announce the release as a Diwali gift.
Rao reminded the Chief Minister of the promises made in the Congress Abhaya Hasta manifesto, which assured the immediate payment of three pending DAs to government employees and pensioners upon coming to power.
He criticized the government for failing to fulfill these promises, despite repeated assurances during the Parliament elections and meetings with teacher and employee unions.
Rao pointed out that it was ten months since the Congress government came to power, and five DAs were still pending. This delay was causing significant financial loss to employees, ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month. He demanded that the cabinet discuss the 17.29% pending DAs and release them immediately as a Diwali gift.
The former minister also highlighted the government’s failure to implement the new Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations within six months, as promised in the manifesto.
He criticized the government’s inaction and demanded immediate fulfilment of promises made to teachers, employees, and pensioners.
Rao further demanded the immediate release of pending supplementary bills, including GPF and surrender leave, which have been delayed for months. He urged the government to honor its promise and clear these dues without further delay.
Additionally, Rao called for the cancellation of the current CPS system and the reintroduction of the old pension scheme, as promised in the manifesto. He requested that this issue be discussed and decided upon in the upcoming cabinet meeting.
Rao also highlighted the plight of around 5,000 employees and teachers who retired after March 31 this year. They were still awaiting their retirement benefits. He demanded the immediate release of their pending GPF, encashment, gratuity, insurance and commuted dues.
He also urged the government to implement the new EHS scheme introduced by the BRS government for the benefit of employees, teachers, and pensioners.
