Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao held the Congress government squarely responsible for drinking water crisis prevailing in Telangana. He said the government’s sheer negligence and mismanagement of water supply, has led to this artificial drought.
Taking to X, Harish Rao stated that people are being forced to wait with pots and drums in serpentine queues at public taps, community wells and water tankers, like in the past (in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh). “Under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, every house received drinking water under Mission Bhagiratha. But today, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy cannot even sustain that,” he said.

The former Minster said the government had failed both in supplying irrigation and drinking water. While agricultural fields went dry due to lack of water, now people are gasping for drinking water.
“Due to negligence and lack of planning, the government did not store adequate water from rivers. As a result, all water bodies lie empty, while groundwater continues to deplete. Even drinking water is not being supplied using Mission Bhagiratha effectively,” he said.
Calling it a man-made drought, Harish Rao slammed the Congress government for pushing the State backwards. “This is not a drought of nature, but one created due to poor administration. The government is answerable for this,” he stated.
He urged the Chief Minister and his Cabinet to stop spreading falsehoods and instead focus on restoring drinking water supply.
