Harish Rao slams remarks on three-hour power supply for farmers
BRS leader T Harish Rao criticised Telangana Farmers' Commission chairman Kodanda Reddy for stating that three hours of electricity supply was enough for farmers. He alleged that the Congress government was attempting to weaken the 24-hour free power supply system introduced during the BRS regime.
Hyderabad: BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao criticised Telangana Farmers’ Commission chairman Kodanda Reddy over his remarks before the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) that only three hours of electricity supply was enough for farmers. He said it was not merely a statement, but an indication of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s anti-farmer mindset.
He said only those disconnected from agriculture could claim that three hours of power was sufficient for farming operations. He accused the government of conspiring to dismantle the 24-hour free power supply scheme for farmers by floating a third DISCOM in their name.
Questioning whether the proposed Rythu DISCOM was merely a pretext to cut agricultural power supply, Harish Rao warned that farmers would teach the Congress government a fitting lesson.
Recalling the previous BRS government’s policies, he stated that uninterrupted free power supply had transformed Telangana into a model State in the agriculture sector.
The senior BRS leader accused the Congress government of failing farmers on loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, fertiliser supply and crop procurement, while attempting to weaken the 24-hour power supply system introduced during the BRS regime.
