Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao strongly criticised the Sangareddy district administration and the State government for their failure to adequately respond to the industrial accident at Sigachi Chloro Chemicals Private Limited in the Pashamylaram Industrial Area.
During a visit to the accident site at 1.30 p.m., Rao found several family members of the victims weeping alone, with no official mechanism in place to provide them with information or support. Many employees were feared trapped under the debris, but no system had been established to keep their families informed. Interacting with the distressed kin of several employees, Rao urged District Collector P Pravinya and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj to immediately set up a help desk to communicate with the affected families.
Stating that officials were shifting the injured to substandard hospitals, the former Minister demanded that they be moved to corporate hospitals to ensure quality treatment. He also called for an ex-gratia of Rs.1 crore for the families of the deceased and Rs.50 lakh compensation for the injured, in addition to covering all medical expenses.
Stating that the accident occurred due to negligence and lack of timely inspections by officials, Rao demanded stern action against the responsible officers and the factory management. He also spoke to workers who had escaped the blast to understand the sequence of events. According to them, around 140 employees were inside the unit when the accident took place.
Later, Rao visited hospitals where the injured were being treated. He was accompanied by BRS leaders Chintha Prabhakar, K Manik Rao, Chanti Kranthi Kiran, Padma Devendar Reddy, Adarsh Reddy, Malkapuram Shiva Kumar, Gadila Srikanth Goud and others.
