Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for misleading people with empty rhetoric, after failing to deliver electoral promises. He said under Revanth Reddy’s rule, no scheme is fully implemented and no relief fully reaches the people.
Addressing a public meeting at Boingutta Thanda in Kalwakurthy constituency of Nagarkurnool district on Thursday, Harish Rao slammed the Congress for reneging on its promise of loan waivers, even after Revanth Reddy swore on deities only to deceive farmers. “He promised to waive loans with multiple deadlines, only to backtrack and leave farmers burdened. Even after the pandemic, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao never failed to support farmers. What’s stopping Revanth now?” he questioned.
He charged the Chief Minister with indulging in rowdyism and increasing his family wealth, instead of governance and public welfare. He also slammed the government’s alleged land grabs, particularly in the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, under the guise of development.
The BRS legislator lambasted the Congress for betraying the unemployed, stating that not even 5,000 jobs have been provided in 15 months, despite a promise of two lakh per annum. “They are beating unemployed youth like cattle for seeking jobs, instead of giving them jobs,” he said.
He accused the government of demolishing houses under the guise of development, mismanaging State finances, and rolling back welfare programmes. “After Revanth Reddy came, even Bathukamma sarees are being deprived, scholarships were stopped, and SC/ST rights were ignored. While Chandrashekhar Rao uplifted Telangana, while it has regressed under Revanth Reddy government,” he declared.
Asserting that BRS remains the only true guardian of Telangana’s interests, he called on youth and students to think wisely before trusting Congress or BJP. Harish Rao later welcomed several Congress leaders into BRS and unveiled statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr BR Ambedkar, and Sevalal Maharaj in Boingutta.
