Hyderabad: BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao will lead a BRS fact-finding team to Neopolis and Rajendranagar on Thursday, to inspect the alleged illegal quarrying activities and crushing unit, reportedly belonging to kith and kin of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
During an informal interaction with media at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao stated that while regulations permit only mobile crushing units near quarries, a fixed crushing plant had been established. Mining was being carried out over 15 acres despite permissions for only 10 acres, with royalty allegedly evaded on 15 lakh cubic metres of rock, he said, adding that there was no approval for a ready-mix unit at the site.
Citing a government order prohibiting mining within a kilometre of the Outer Ring Road, he stated that Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s firm, Raghava Constructions, was running quarry operations in Rajendranagar without requisite clearances.
Harish Rao also questioned the removal of the Telangana Education Commission’s education policy document from the official website. He sought to know why the report was removed if it was error-free and exceptional as claimed by the government. He vowed to expose another scam on awarding tenders at five-seven per cent excess price for construction of Young India Integrated Schools.
Stating that the Congress government was being compelled to respond positively to people’s issues due to pressure from the BRS, he cited the recent demolitions of homes by the government in Khammam which was stalled after the BRS brought pressure.
