Karimnagar: The shepherd community has thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for nominating Gellu Srinivas Yadav as TRS party candidate for Huzurabad by-poll.

Members of shepherd associations and TRS activists burst crackers, distributed sweets and raised slogans praising the Chief Minister and Srinivas Yadav after the announcement of the candidature.

A native of Himmathnagar of Veenavanka mandal, Srinivas Yadav completed MA and LLM from Osmania University. His father, Gellu Mallaiah, was an active worker of TDP. While his father worked as MPTC from Kondapaka, mother Laxmi served as sarpanch of Himmathnagar.

Attracted by Chandrashekhar Rao’s speeches during the Statehood movement, Srinivas Yadav joined TRSV while pursuing graduation in AV College, Hyderabad in 2003. As a student leader, he was arrested a number of times for participating in various agitations.

As TRSV president of OU, he walked 650 km to meet students of various universities as part of Telangana Vidhyarti Padayatra from OU to Kakatiya University in 2010. He also participated in the Million March held on March 10, 2011.

In 2017, he was appointed as TRSV State president.
