Hyderabad: It was a special occasion for the participants of the Hyderabad Cyclists Group (HCG) on Republic Day on Tuesday, when they rode 100km, donning the Indian tricolor in a picturesque 2×2 formation on the highway towards Medchal. This attempt was to portray the strength, effort and skill set of the riders.
Riding in red, black and white attire, the HCG cyclists have been instrumental in imbibing an active lifestyle across all ages and regions across India! The group was instrumental in introducing home challenges during the lockdown and conducted a Cycling League in 2020 between June 20 and July 30, covering 69,876 km as a team total. These intuitive initiatives helped encourage cycling for solo and group riders uncovering huge potential within beginners and helped every rider to advance their ride.

“My Idea of doing this event was to promote cycling across Hyderabad and India.. We want to bring cyclists from grass root Level and create a name in the cycling world. We would want more female Riders to vote forward in cycling. We want to spread cycling to the younger generation,” said N Ravindran, founder of HCG.
Starting from Suchitra X Road at 6 am, the cyclists covered Medchal, Yellampet, Kalakkal, Masaipet, Chegunta – (50 Km U-turn point), Masaipet, Kalakkal, Yellampet, Medchal before ending at Suchitra X Road 11.30 pm.
