Hyderabad: Surgeons at Hyderabad-based Malla Reddy Narayana Multispeciality Hospital (MRNH) on Wednesday informed that they have managed to save the limb of a 10-year-old boy who suffered a rare and life-threatening pediatric vascular injury after a severe accident.
The child was admitted to the hospital with multiple traumatic injuries including fractures of the right distal femur, right humerus, and left forearm bones. He also had injury to the distal Superficial Femoral Artery (SFA) in the right leg that led to complete loss of blood flow to the limb, placing it at imminent risk of amputation.
The hospital’s vascular surgery team led by Dr. K. Athirath Reddy, along with Dr. D. Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Dr. Mahesh, performed a complex surgery (right mid-femoral artery to distal popliteal artery bypass along with tibial vessel thrombectomy) to restore blood circulation to the affected limb.
Dr. Ch. Bhadra Reddy, Chairman and Dr Preeti Reddy, Vice-Chairman of Malla Reddy Narayana Multispeciality Hospital congratulated the doctors from multiple medical specialties who were involved in saving the limb of the young child.
