Hyderabad: People in Hyderabad are experiencing a unique weather phenomenon where daytime heat sharply contrasts with the plunging night temperatures. Loosely called ‘mixed winter’, the present weather conditions, along with extensive fog, are expected to prevail till the second week of February, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad.
At present, the gap between the maximum and minimum temperatures in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts has widened to nearly 15 degrees Celsius. As a result, the State’s capital is witnessing a peculiar cycle of hot afternoons followed by chilly evenings.
According to IMD-Hyderabad local weather forecast, up to January 28, Hyderabad will witness day time temperatures between 29 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius while night time temperatures will be between 16 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius, which is a difference of about 14 degrees C to 15 degrees C between night and day.
The IMD-Hyderabad defines the present weather condition as ‘large diurnal variation of temperature’, which translates to the difference between maximum (day) and minimum (night) temperatures in one-day.
The early morning mist and hazy nights are also expected to continue till the second week of February. For the next 3 to 4 days at least, the daytime maximum temperatures in core areas of Hyderabad will hover between 29 degrees C and 30 degrees C and 16 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius at night. The minimum temperatures in the city outskirts, could hover between 13 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius
