The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about the Goods and Services Tax (GST), one of India’s most significant tax reforms, and its impact on the nation’s economy and taxation framework.

The event was graced by chief guest N J Kumaresh, Principal Commissioner of Central Tax, Hyderabad CGST Commissionerate, and guest of honour L Ramesh, Assistant Commissioner of Central Tax, Ameerpet CGST Division, along with his team of officials from the division.

At the programme, Chinnamma, Secretary, Villa Marie Education Society, Revati Devi Mathur, Principal, and Dr K Naveen Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, played a pivotal role in the successful organisation of the event.

As part of the celebrations, essay writing and elocution competitions were conducted on themes related to GST and taxation. The competitions provided students with an opportunity to enhance their analytical thinking, communication skills and understanding of India’s taxation system.

The winners were felicitated during the valedictory session by N J Kumaresh, Principal Commissioner of Central Tax, Hyderabad CGST Commissionerate.

The dignitaries shared valuable insights on the significance of GST, tax compliance, economic development and the role of youth in nation-building. An interactive session enabled students to engage directly with the officials and clarify their queries regarding taxation and career opportunities in the field.
