Hyderabad: Doctors from Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Kukatpally and two constables from Telangana Police acted swiftly to save the life of a 44-year-old daily wager Jatta Gangaiah, who suffered severe muscle and vascular injuries with massive blood loss following a road traffic accident (RTA) near Nizampet on February 24.

Gangaiah was brought to the hospital casualty in a critical condition by constables Mahesh (PC 3832) and Dashrath (PC 3590) in a patrol vehicle. The patient had already lost nearly 1 litre of blood while being transported to the hospital. On reaching casualty, Gangaiah went into cardiac arrest due to shock from blood loss.

The medical team led by specialists, Dr Rishikesh Mishra, Dr Naveen Nimmala, and Dr Surya Teja Rudraraju acted swiftly and revived the patient and initiated fluid resuscitation. However, they were desperately looking for O negative blood.

With no patient attendants available, constables Mahesh and Dashrath took the initiative to collect the required blood from blood bank, ensuring no delay in treatment. The hospital administration also did its best to remove all the hurdles including financial constraints to ensure patient was rushed to the operation theatre quickly.

Specialised surgeons Dr Surya Kiran Indukuri (Vascular Surgeon), Dr Subha (Plastic Surgeon), and Dr Chaitanya Sravanthi (Intensivist) performed an urgent vascular repair surgery, stopping the bleeding and stabilising the patient.
