Hyderabad: Hyderabad hosted its first-ever Interfaith Pride Fest at Bagheen Café, bringing together over 200 people from diverse religious, spiritual, and queer communities. The event was not just well-attended but deeply moving, insightful, and celebratory of the intersections between faith, queerness, and identity, Patruni Sastry, Curator, Interfaith Pride Fest, said.
The evening opened with a powerful panel featuring Chinmayee, Avijit, and Vaibhav, who spoke about how classical dance has been a spiritual anchor and expression of identity for them, followed by a captivating Odissi drag fusion performance by Khemaya, a trans-woman from Odisha.
The event also featured speakers like Anthony for Seeing Yoga, Kiran Raj, a trans man and founder of Star Collective, and Deepti Sirla, who articulated experiences in their respective fields.
The fest featured a marriage panel with Akki and Supriyo, who spoke about their unique rituals in same-sex marriage ceremonies. Performances and talks by Ina, Emma, and Bebo added layers of queer futurism, trans Muslim representation, and the psychological depth of faith-based trauma and healing.
The event concluded with a group queer performance by Aaina, Khemaya, Chinmayee, Vaibhav, Avijit, Patruni Sastry. The event was supported by Bagheen Café, Mobbera Foundation, Rubaroo, and Humans of Nirvana.
