Hyderabad: A trumpet-shaped flyover at Kokapet (Neopolis) is ready for operation. This flyover will ensure uninterrupted travel connections for motorists moving between Patancheru and Kokapet Layout, Kokapet Layout and Gachibowli, Kokapet Layout and Shamshabad, Shamshabad and Gachibowli, as well as Kokapet Layout and Patancheru.
The unique architectural plan of the flyover was developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and built at Rs 65 crore as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). The officials are planning to inaugurate the flyover by the end of this month.

“As part of the integrated development of Kokapet Layout spread over 530 acres, the HMDA proposed an access-controlled expressway (ORR) through a trumpet flyover near Movie Towers for providing seamless connectivity for entry and exit towards Patancheru and Shamshabad,” HMDA Superintending Engineer (SE), VVS Appa Rao, told Telangana Today.
Explaining the features of the trumpet flyover, the SE said there are two entry ramps and two exit ramps built with a single trumpet. HMDA built five exit lanes and three entry lanes from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with different radii of curvature. HMDA will operate a total of eight toll booths—five for exit lanes and three for entry lanes—on this new flyover.

Another key feature is that the trumpet at Kokapet is a single trumpet, whereas in Ghatkesar, there is a double trumpet. The reason for the double trumpet is to provide hassle-free movement across the highway. The single trumpet in Kokapet is designed to restrict access to the ORR only, said the HMDA official.
- This trumpet is located three kilometres from the existing ‘Financial District’ interchange.
- This interchange will be the 22nd ORR interchange, of which 21 interchanges already exist.
- The interchange is taken up because of the heavy traffic flow at these major spots, besides the construction of residential and commercial establishments in the vicinity.
- Narsingi interchange is the 20th interchange, and Mallampet interchange was the 21st constructed and completed. Neopolis is the 22nd interchange.
