Hyderabad: Martial arts exponents Hanshi Shaswat Kumar and his student B Yashwanth, both from Hyderabad, set multiple world records in the Asian Book of World Records.
Shaswat Kumar set a world record for maximum backfist punches in 60 seconds, delivering 502 punches at an average of 8.36 punches per second.
He also recorded 112 backfist punches in just 10 seconds, averaging 11 punches per second.
His 14-year-old student B Yashwanth set two world records — fastest teenager to perform 107 full-extension punches in 20 seconds while wearing karate gloves and another record for maximum full-extension punches, with 161 punches in 30 seconds while wearing gloves.
“Hanshi Shaswat Kumar’s leadership and training continue to produce world-class athletes, reinforcing his position as one of India’s leading martial arts figures. My success further demonstrates the strength and effectiveness of his training system,” Yashwanth said.
“This achievement stands as a testament to hard work, perseverance and the true spirit of martial arts excellence,” he said.
