Hyderabad: Heavy rains have damaged a sewerage pipeline of the HMWSSB, resulting in a large crater on Pragathi Nagar Road in Kukatpally.
This incident marks the second crater occurrence within two days during the ongoing monsoon season. On August 11, a crater was discovered in Auto Nagar in Kompally.
During an inspection by the General Manager (Electrical) and the Moosapet Section Manager, it was found that the existing deep manhole, approximately 18 feet (or 6 metres) deep, had completely collapsed at the bottom and was at risk of a fully collapse at any time, according to an official release.
Due to heavy rains, barricades have been set up at the damaged manhole, and jetting vehicles, silt grabber vehicles, and sewage staff have been deployed to repair the affected area.
Meanwhile, traffic has been temporarily diverted in coordination with the traffic police. Reconstruction work on the collapsed manhole will commence immediately once the rains subside, the Water Board said.
