Hyderabad: Denizens took to social media platforms to vent their anger and frustration on municipal authorities for their absence and inaction during Thursday’s heavy rains which caused severe traffic jams and waterlogging.
Software employees returning from office were particularly harsh, having been stuck in traffic for hours.
Caught in a traffic jam on Ameerpet-KPHB stretch, Ashok Kumar, wondered as to how road works were taken up during peak monsoon and said, “On one half of the road, there is waterlogging, and on the other side, the road has been dug-up, leaving little room for the traffic to move. There was not a single municipal engineer or officer to guide us”.
Vijay Mallangi vented his anger at GHMC, especially the Mayor. “Our city is drowning, and you are nowhere to be seen. You don’t deserve to be our Mayor. Resign now. Hyderabad needs an honest and citizen centric, and decisive leadership,” he posted on X.
Another commuter Ansar Ahmad on X posted “I am stuck in a traffic jam at Ameerpet for the past 45 minutes. The whole road from Punjagutta to Kukatpally is now jammed. The Hyderabad traffic police and city police are just for the name. No response till now. Shame on you!”.
Many commuters and affected individuals demanded solutions. “Hyderabad is once again clogged with severe traffic following the rain. Commuters are trapped in the traffic jam for hours. This is a recurring issue and demands urgent solutions,” P Kanakareddy said.
